Around the grounds.......... April

April is nearly over and we are gearing up for the busy tournament season. We were able to get a light top-dress on the greens this week, topping off any aerification holes remaining and to help level some of the numerous unfixed ball marks. This monthly "dusting" will help smooth, firm and tighten the putting surface and help in the decrease of thatch(a layer between the grass and the soil made up of interwoven accumulated dead and living grass shoots, stems, crowns, and roots.) Once we get the sand worked into the profile we will begin to drop mowing heights. We are currently mowing greens at .100 and will be heading to our standard season height of .090 . Our new tee markers also went out last week, along with new cups, flags and flagsticks. Also, all course wood piles from our full desert trimming project should be picked up this week. We will be working on pruning and string trimming lake edges over the next two weeks.

Had this sweet boy just wander into the office on Saturday.... "Link" the greyhound apparently escaped his yard on #18 for some fun on the course. For a bit I guess he was actually the "Missing Link" :)     Enjoyed his visit(BTW_he was picked up by his Mom a bit later without incident).
