Completion of Fall Aerification

After a rough start to the aeration process dealing with multiple equipment issues, and the heat and punishment the greens had to endure during the greens aerification portion(temps in the low to mid 90's) we were able to complete aerification thanks to the GMS crew who put in some long days with some quality work to finish strong and keep us on track . So kudos to my crew and a special shout out to Bill Nauroth for taking time out of his busy schedule and helping out during greens aerification.....we all appreciate you turning the typical 12 hour aerification day into a 15 hour day!  hehehe:)

We began with the fairways and approaches with 1"(D) x 10" (L) solid tine, at a depth of 4.5" - 5.5"(depending on fairway). We actually aerated some of our typical "hot spot" fairway areas two directions to give even more relief to these hard compacted areas. We blew off any debris and "dry" mowed completed fairways in the afternoon. The tees were done at the same time but we pulled cores using 5/8" (D) x 7"(L) hollow tines at a depth of 4".  We also verticut the approaches and tees two directions  to remove some thatch and improve the overall turf quality in those areas. We aerified greens with a 5/8" (D) x 7"(L) hollow tine at a depth of 3 1/2"
